A complete renovation of a 120 m² apartment in Barcelona’s Eixample district, preserving and restoring modernist elements. The project restored the original woodwork and hydraulic mosaic tiles, combined with parquet flooring to define different areas. The interior gallery enhances natural light and comfort.
DESCRIPTION
The project involves the complete renovation of a 120 m² apartment located in the Eixample district of Barcelona. OAK is handling both the design and the construction.
The owners wanted to preserve as much of the modernist elements characteristic of these buildings as possible. To this end, the original woodwork was restored, and the hydraulic mosaic flooring plays a crucial role in this project. It was removed, then reinstalled and restored, differentiating areas and creating new patterns. Combined with the parquet flooring, this creates a magnificent harmony between the modern and the original.
The gallery overlooking an interior courtyard in the Eixample district, filled with gardens, brings abundant light and tranquility to the entire apartment. In short, a home with the essence of Barcelona.
