Full renovation of a home in a 1960s building in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Barcelona. The intervention organizes the spaces around a central core, creating a continuous flow while enhancing spaciousness, visual connections, and natural light, with noble materials and solutions focused on comfort and energy efficiency.
DESCRIPTION
This fully renovated residence is located in a 13-story multifamily building constructed in the 1960s, in the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi neighborhood, close to Pedralbes.
The project organizes, from the entrance, a large open common area — living room, dining area, and kitchen — facing southeast, and a sequence of private and semi-private spaces to the east.
A compact central core, housing service areas and secondary rooms, acts as the main spatial organizer, enabling a circular and continuous flow throughout the home. This enhances the fluidity between zones through long visual connections between rooms and toward the exterior, while also maximizing natural light penetration into the interior. The careful, precise construction is complemented by the use of noble, light-toned materials.
Climate comfort is achieved through passive strategies such as cross-ventilation and filtered daylight, complemented by active systems based on aerothermal energy for domestic hot water, underfloor heating, and air conditioning — ensuring both energy efficiency and environmental comfort.
The intervention transforms the way the space is inhabited, enhancing its spatial, luminous, and sensory qualities.
The project has been selected to be showcased in October 2025 at the “48h Open House Barcelona” architecture festival.
