STATUS: Completed
A complete renovation of a Barcelona apartment to adapt a representative 1970s building to modern comforts. The project preserves its architectural essence, updates installations and windows, improves energy efficiency with aerothermal heating and underfloor heating, and incorporates natural materials and a neutral color palette.
DESCRIPTION
The aim was to preserve the character of this iconic example of 1970s Barcelona architecture, while adapting it to modern family needs and comforts. For example, the building’s systems were completely renovated, and an aerothermal system was installed to provide hot water and underfloor heating throughout the home.
Adhering to the principle of preserving the building’s essence while prioritizing energy efficiency, the decision was made to restore all exterior walls, replacing the existing glass with double-glazed, acoustic windows. Regarding the finishes, a neutral color palette was chosen, using natural, high-quality materials to add color to wet areas and more movable elements such as furniture and textiles.
