Renovating kitchens to fill them with inspiration
At OAK, we believe that kitchens are a fundamental space in the home, and in recent years, the room that has undergone the most evolution, both in terms of form and use. It’s no longer just a place to prepare and store food; it has become a potential gathering place. Therefore, when designing a kitchen renovation, we must pay attention to several aspects. The first and most important is that it be comfortable and functional. This includes execution aspects, such as the ability to manufacture custom-made furniture to make the most of every corner, ergonomic considerations, the specific use of each work area, and taking into account all the functions that this space requires.

The architectural structure will be a major factor, as it will determine the shape of the furniture, although nowadays many people choose to knock down some walls and add it to the living-dining area, thus creating situations of companionship while one cooks, establishing a good place to host informal meetings, and also taking advantage of generating a more open and luminous area.

Choosing the materials will also be an important decision. One of the first things to decide is whether to tile the kitchen or simply plaster it for painting.

Currently, by protecting the backsplash area (the vertical continuation of the countertop) and the backsplash area, we can guarantee a hygienic kitchen free from moisture problems. Backsplashes can be made of the same material as the countertop, such as Silestone.

Or we can opt for a tile or porcelain stoneware, making sure that the installation will be carried out by a good professional.

The new concept in furniture is governed by the integration of the handles, making it very convenient to open the modules from any point along their entire length, and generating a very orderly aesthetic, with pure lines and minimalist airs.

Depending on the desired style, we can also add handles and other bolder colors, creating impressive and elegant kitchens.

For homes in less urban areas we will need more organic styles, with noble materials such as wood and more rustic, but equally warm, forms.

As for furniture and accessories, we have endless possibilities. All types of custom-made furniture with drawer units, wardrobes, corner units, “push” opening systems for lower cabinets, hinged doors, electronic controls, glass-fronted display doors for upper cabinets, and pull-out wall units with retractable doors, interior drawers, or shelves.

Furthermore, by adding some accessories such as LED lights in furniture and even in faucets, we qualitatively increase the aesthetic value and generate different atmospheres in the same room.

Kitchen countertops can be made of marble, granite, quartz resins (Silestone), porcelain (Dekton, Neolith) and even wood when we are looking for a certain warmth and we value materials that slightly modify their appearance over time, revealing the original nobility of their composition.

Kitchen islands and peninsulas are becoming increasingly important as they can be blended with the furniture in the living area, creating the aforementioned interaction.
