OAK celebrates 15 years overcoming the worst crisis in the construction sector

After a seven-year slump, the construction sector in Spain will begin a slow recovery in 2015, according to the latest Euroconstruct report. However, some companies in the sector are already showing signs of improvement after overcoming what has been the worst crisis in the industry since the housing bubble burst at the end of 2007. This is the case for the construction and renovation company OAK 2000 , which has increased its revenue in recent years, reaching €2.1 million in 2014 and forecasting €2.4 million in 2015. OAK’s growth, despite the ongoing downturn in the sector, has been driven by the company’s commitment to a shift in its production system. “After basing our services on new construction—homes, buildings, and industrial warehouses—during the period 2000-2009, we decided to change course and focus on a model more geared towards renovation, with a particular emphasis on home renovations, specializing specifically in comprehensive, high-end projects,” explains Joaquín García, founder of OAK 2000 . OAK Team Their specialization in comprehensive home renovations has led the company to increase its staff by 25% compared to 2014, the year in which they carried out around 50 projects including comprehensive and partial renovations, homes, kitchens or bathrooms. According to OAK 2000, another essential factor in the firm’s current expansion has been the opening, in the midst of the economic crisis, of two retail locations in Barcelona, ​​targeting both individual customers and professionals (architects and interior designers), first in the Sant Gervasi neighborhood (2010) and later on Numancia Street (2013). Furthermore, collaboration with some of the most renowned professionals in the architecture sector “has lent prestige and recognition to the company’s work,” García affirms. Winners of the prestigious FAD awards The success of the projects carried out by the Catalan company has led them to be winners and selected for the prestigious FAD Architecture and Interior Design Awards, promoted by the architect Oriol Bohigas and created by the Fomento de las Artes Decorativas in 1958. The renovation project for the OAK showroom on Numancia Street in Barcelona, ​​designed by Anna and Eugeni Bach, was the audience favorite at the 2014 FAD Awards in the interior design category. Furthermore, the company’s “BCN reset – Pavelló Efímer” project has been selected from among 458 entries for the 2015 FAD Awards, whose ceremony will be held at the Disseny Hub in Barcelona on July 2, 2015, at 8:00 p.m.
