Unexpectedly, we’ve connected with each corner and discovered countless ways to enjoy them. That’s why it’s perfectly normal to want to feel comfortable day after day, although to achieve this, sometimes a few changes are necessary. At OAK, we want to approach this topic from a different perspective. What will we gain if we decide to renovate our homes now? Comprehensive renovation before and after To answer this question, we invite you to explore some of our latest projects. Inside, we’ll clear up any doubts and share inspiration.

Adapt your home to your needs

Your lifestyle may have changed in recent months. Perhaps you’re now working from home more, or maybe the whole family is spending more time at home, and you need to reorganize your living spaces. This was the case for a young couple who needed to connect more with their home to make the most of it. After contacting us, we carried out a complete renovation, taking into account their concerns and new priorities. The result? With a small intervention on the apartment’s original layout, we transformed a segregated, impractical, and uncomfortable space into the central and defining feature of the project. The surrounding spaces were also redesigned and integrated with the new one.

Increase the value of your home

Many homeowners want to secure their investment for the future, and this is a quick way to do so. In this project, a 13th-century building in Barcelona’s old town underwent a comprehensive renovation, including structural reinforcement, complete refurbishment of communal areas, roof, courtyards, facades, and installations. One of the objectives was to restore original elements of the building, such as the exterior woodwork, while combining them with the comfort and quality of the new materials installed.

To better connect the spaces

As in this apartment located in Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, in a late 19th-century building, which was characterized by having a floor plan with two very distinct areas. With the renovation, we managed to connect them and multiply the views throughout the apartment. The central space accommodates the kitchen, dining room, and entrance, but it does so through a ceramic lattice screen that separates the entrance area from the dining room; and another volume, also ceramic, that houses the kitchen. This strategy allows for these three distinct functions without sacrificing the idea of a single, unified space. But a renovation doesn’t mean giving up everything . Here we preserved the original hydraulic tile floors in part of the house, as well as the original wooden joinery, which was in good condition and reflected the character and history of the neighborhood where it is located.

For aesthetic reasons

However impressive a home may be, it can always surprise us even more thanks to a top-notch project. In this comprehensive renovation of a 160 m2 apartment, designed and renovated by OAK, not only was the layout of the home completely transformed, but high-quality materials were also used, such as continuous natural oak parquet flooring throughout, white lacquered doors, and Kourasanit bathroom tiles. These are just four reasons to invest in apartment renovations, but there are many more, including energy efficiency . A home evolves along with its owners , and to keep up, renovations are a great way to do it, and OAK is your trusted team.
