in Llafranc

The renovation of this beachfront house in Llafranc, undertaken by Nook Arquitects, involved a brilliant interplay between the surrounding environment and the interior of the home, resulting in extraordinary masonry work. Floor slabs were demolished to accommodate the new design and relocate the staircase to the five levels. The roof was completely rehabilitated, and work was carried out on the façade, terraces, and all plumbing and electrical systems. Regarding the finishes, and following the architects’ vision, materials such as hydraulic tiles, small-format ceramic pieces, continuous flooring, and custom-made furniture were used. This is a terraced house with a ground floor plus one upper floor and three upper floors, dating from 1928, with a usable area of ​​210 m². The entrance is on the upper floor, and the building descends along the slope of the existing topography, creating different volumes as it reaches sea level, where the jetty is located. The structure consists of wooden beams supported by load-bearing walls, with a pitched roof, and rests on an old stone wall.

The proposal changes the architectural concept of the house by enlarging the facade openings, lowering load-bearing walls, and reinforcing the roof with metal beams, thus causing a total restructuring of the interior.

The ground floor comprises a living area, dining room, and kitchen, a suite with its own bathroom, a bedroom, and a second full bathroom. The stairs leading to the new mezzanine are also located on this level. Levels -1 and -2 each have a bedroom and a bathroom, while the dock is located on level -3.
