Today we want to share Cristina’s experience with our team in the renovation of two homes in l’Eixample of Barcelona through the interview we conducted with her at the end of the projects.<\/p>\n
First, let me set the scene. One day, Cristina walked into our showroom with a photocopy of a floor plan of an apartment on Aribau Street. She’d stumbled across us by chance as she passed by, we caught her eye, and she decided to come in. She came in to meet us and, at the same time, to make her dream a reality: turning that floor plan on paper into her new home. She also had in mind moving back to Barcelona with her family after spending a few years living and working in England. <\/p>\n
The idea was to recapture the essence of a typical modernist apartment in Barcelona’s Eixample district. It had to be a modern apartment with soul. But while we were carrying out the renovations on Aribau Street, Cristina brought us another photocopy: it was the floor plan of another apartment on Girona Street, and she wanted us to work on that one as well. In this case, her goal was different: to rent it out. <\/p>\n

–<\/strong> What were your reasons for working together with OAK2000?<\/strong>\n I looked at several companies that did complete renovations, and when I saw your website, I really liked your style. Discovering Catalan vaults, wood stripping, exposed brick walls, restoration of hydraulic tile floors… in general, recovering the essence of the apartment and all very well combined with modern furniture. Your quotes matched what we were looking for, and when we saw the show apartment, we loved the finishes. We had no hesitation in starting to work with you. <\/p>\n -What strengths would you highlight about our team? And weaknesses? (design, technical team, coordination, response…)<\/strong>\n The strengths lie in the design and the technical team; they are highly professional people who know what they’re doing, understand the trends, and are familiar with the materials. We believe the advice has also been crucial in these two projects. We knew what we wanted, but often there are details that the professionals, with their experience, help you see aren’t feasible, such as the question of whether to reuse the original radiators, which are beautiful but don’t optimize energy efficiency because they are old and contain a lot of limescale.\n Perhaps the weakest point was the wood painting. There was poor communication between the worker and the interior designer: if a window is being painted and a sash is missing because the glass might fall, this should be communicated before continuing; or if there’s a hole that needs to be covered with a piece of wood, it wasn’t covered and they had to keep painting. All of this was, of course, resolved later, but I think it could have been avoided. <\/p>\n -Have we met your expectations? (quality, price, deadlines…)<\/strong>\n To date, the quality-price ratio has been excellent, and the deadlines have been met. We would like to emphasize that if at any time there has been a change in the budget, whether upward or downward, we have been informed verbally or by email with the revised budget clearly updated. Similarly, if any modification has been deemed beneficial for the future use of the property, we have always been informed, and the decision has been left to us. The case I am referring to involves the wall linings and the water return system, among other things. <\/p>\n -The work was carried out while you were away. Did doing it remotely pose any problems?<\/strong>\n It hasn’t been a problem at all. There has been constant communication; no email has gone unanswered, and they’ve explored every possible avenue to get us information regarding faucet samples, water purification systems, wall colors, lighting, and so on.\n They have always tried to accommodate our schedules when we have come to Barcelona, \u200b\u200bmaking us feel that at that moment their project was their priority. <\/p>\n Would you recommend OAK2000 to your family and friends?<\/strong>\nWithout a doubt.<\/p>\n And if you’d like to add any comments, they’re welcome!<\/strong>\nWe were delighted with Olga Sansalvador’s service. A fantastic professional who advises clients but always knows her boundaries, respecting and adapting to the owner’s vision in a very positive way. For example, I want to highlight the fact that I was very stubborn and wanted a bathroom with two sinks, a bathtub, an open shower, a bidet, and a toilet, and she worked on the project until she found a way to accommodate everything.\n Another point I want to highlight is that if the budget got out of hand, she always found a way to adjust by sourcing different and modern materials. I think this is crucial; design is beautiful, but sometimes it seems a bit over the top. Working with OAK, that wasn’t the case at all.
